In the year of 1912. master Me¹troviæ imagined a huge fountain that was supposed to be placed at Terazije. The theme of the fountain was the liberation of Serbia from the Ottomans. In the middle of the water pool he imagined a five stage column, the symbol of five centries of Ottoman rule, and then at the top of it the statue of Victor. After the end of the First World War, the project has been abandoned (as spoken the city ladies have complained), ans so in 1928. the Victor was placed at Kalemegdan, during the ten years memorial celebration of breach of the Solun front. The Victor is often used as the symbol of Belgrade.
